African Union

The African Union (AU) was established on May 26, 2001, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and officially launched on July 9, 2002, in Durban, South Africa. The AU was created to provide a platform for the 55 African member states to unite and collaborate in addressing regional challenges. Its objectives include promoting peace, security, and political stability, advancing economic growth through international cooperation, and strengthening unity and solidarity on the continent.

The AU deals with modern challenges such as terrorism, unconstitutional changes of government, humanitarian crises, and the impact of climate change. It has developed initiatives.
